When you click the delete icon it will give you the option:  Are you sure you wish to delete this promotion code?

OK will complete the deletion process and cancel will abort the deletion process. 

Remember:  if you delete a promotion before it has expired your customer will not be able to use it unless you create an exact duplicate.
